Our Services

Our Organization

Resurrection Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in the Tennessee. We are a faith-based establishment structured to provide resources for formerly incarcerated women who desire a holistic reentry into their communities.  We serve our population with the heart of Hebrews 13:3 "Remember the Lord's people who are in prison and be concerned for them. Do not forget those who are suffering, but imagine you are there with them." Our vision is to "Resurrect, Redeem, and Restore.  To transform lives one mind at a time."

Our Concept

We have recognized a serious problem while conducting research, which is a historical social process that keeps a certain demographic group of people in a continued form of oppression by placing collateral consequences on the formerly incarcerated after release from prison. Collateral consequences are social and legal penalties that affect an individual once he or she has been convicted of or is suspected of engaging in criminal activity. Many collateral consequences are created by federal laws while others are created by state laws, and they tend to vary from state to state. These laws come in many different forms and affect various civil, political, social, and economic rights. Women face additional consequences and barriers to their reentry into normal community lives.

Long-term consequences are the barriers that oppress the formerly incarcerated women, preventing them from a successful reintegration into society. These barriers include being identified as a former criminal or as criminal with a record for life; check the box on housing and employment application; the inability to get government financial assistance; and the list continues as formerly incarcerated women attempt their transition.

Resurrection Ministries, Inc. has a philosophy of supporting educational expectations: everyone who walks through the door should be facilitated to pursue their personal well-being, by building upon the skill and educational development desires to create a level foundation upon reintegration into “normal” life. We believe that recidivism can be reduced by "Transforming lives one mind at a time."

Our Concept

Recognition of the collateral
consequences on the formerly incarcerated women.
Identification of the vulnerable Individuals.
Immediate relief through providing a therapeutic
community.
Long-term consequences mitigated through housing, education, skill development and support services.
Reintegration into communities as a productive members of society.

TRANSFORMING LIVES ONE MIND AT A TIME THROUGH DISPERSED SUPPORT

We fulfill our nonprofit mission and meet the ever-increasing need with diverse funding from generous individuals, foundations and corporate supporters of our work while also generating revenue through our social enterprise endeavors.
We met the needs of over 110 individuals through our "Fresh Start" backpack initiative, served 40 children through Angel Tree (Prison Fellowship Ministries) and provided food, rental assistance, emotional support and other resources for formally incarcerated women.  Five of these women have earned their TN Braid Registration certifications. Giving them the opportunity for self-sufficiency.
